For client William King, DAACE designed a specialist rectangular shaft 16 metres deep to accommodate a new process on a steel coil line inside an existing factory in Oldbury.

Working within the factory's restricted space required coordination of prefabrication, lifting and progressive sinking. Prefabricated concrete units were lifted into place using the factory's internal overhead cranes and progressively sunk as a caisson.

At the deeper stages, excavation used a mini excavator and manual methods.
