Shaft sinking works
A 4.5m dia shaft, 7m deep as part of the pumping station for the new housing estate.
Working for Brandwells Construction within a Redrow homes site – DAACE were asked to install a 4.5m dia shaft, 7m deep as part of the pumping station for the new housing estate.
Having studied the ground information and following a site visit, it was decided that a caisson shaft would be constructed. Due to the presence of rock a decision was made to pre – auger the ground down to the full depth of the shaft. The pre-augering allowed for the shaft to be excavated from the top and removed the need for breakers and reduced the requirements for man entry into the shaft.
Following augering and collar construction, the shaft was excavated & jacked down to depth. With the works being completed ahead of programme.
